Perry Junior League 6U Boys Rules

1. Games will have a 1:15 time limit.

2. A new inning of a game will not be started within 10 min of time expiring, but the inning must be finished unless the home team is batting and in the lead, or the visiting team’s ½ inning is completed and they are behind in the score.

3. Once 7 runs are scored or 3 outs are acquired, the inning is over.

4. When a team cannot mathematically come back to win or tie a game, the game will end.

5. Run Rule is 15 after 3, 12 after 4, or 8 after 5

6. A continuous batting order will be utilized and enforced throughout the game.

7. Batting Order

- The batting order shall constitute all present players on the team roster at the beginning of the game.

- Late arrivals shall be inserted at the bottom of the batting order.

- Once the hitters cycle through once, players cannot be added to batting order but they are able to play defense.

- All players on the roster shall bat before returning to the top of the batting order.

- Teams may use free substitution on defense, but the batting order shall remain the same.

8. Pitching Circle

There shall be a 10-foot diameter circle with the center of the circle at 42 feet from the rear point of home plate.

9. Pitches per Batter

-The batter shall receive a maximum of 5 pitches with unlimited foul balls or 3 swinging strikes. The batter cannot be out on a foul ball unless it is caught by a fielder.

10. Pitching Coach

- The pitching coach shall be an adult at least 18 years of age.

- The pitching coach must pitch at least 20 feet from the batter. The coach can pitch anywhere behind the 20-foot line.

- Ball must be thrown overhand and from a standing position.

- The pitching coach shall not verbally or physically coach while in the pitching position with the ball in hand. First offense of the game- warning.

- Second offense of the game- The pitching coach will be removed from the game.

- The pitching coach shall position himself as not to be an obstruction to the defensive team on any possible play once the ball has been hit.

11. Pitching Coach Interference

When a batted ball hits the Pitching Coach, the following shall apply:

If in the umpire’s judgment, the coach did not make a legitimate attempt to avoid contract, the batter is declared out and no runners shall advance. If in the umpire’s judgment, the coach did make a legitimate attempt to avoid contact, the ball becomes dead, and a no-pitch is declared.

12. If the coach pitcher is hit by the ball, it is a dead ball and will be declared a no pitch.

13. The coach pitcher may coach or verbally position the batter only, prior to the delivery of a pitch. A

coach may physically position the batter only once during the batter’s at bat.

14. Play is stopped and runners are unable to advance when the ball is in front of the lead runner. Any

runners not halfway to the next base when time was called will return to the previous base.

15. Overthrown balls to the bases will allow all runners to advance one base only. Additional bases may be

taken on an overthrow if defensive player attempts to make a play.

16. Infield fly rule is not applicable.

17. Batted ball must pass the 10-ft circle in front of home plate to be considered a live ball.

18. Bunting is not allowed.

19. A tie score is allowable during regular season games.

20. The pitcher player must make an attempt to throw to 1 st base unless momentum moves the player

directly to a tag. The pitcher can tag other runners when an obvious tag can be made. The pitcher is

not allowed to run down a player advancing to 1 st base.

21. The pitcher player must stand with one foot inside the circle until the ball is put in play.

22. A runner is not allowed to leave the base until the pitcher delivers a pitch and the ball crosses the plate.

23. The catcher is only required to wear a helmet and mask. If the catcher is in the box the catcher must be wearing full gear.

24. Two coaches are allowed in the field during their defensive half of the inning.

25. The umpire will announce and make the determination of game time and be responsible for monitoring time left.

26. In the event of a rainout, a game is considered complete if two innings have been completed OR if the home team is winning and 1½ innings have been completed.
